In 2022, 40 years since the Air Force 1 was introduced, a culmination of the rich history of the silhouette was realized with the introduction of the Louis Vuitton x Nike “Air Force 1” by Virgil Abloh. Released posthumously, Alboh’s work seamlessly connected the decades of prominence of Nike’s famed sneaker. In total, Virgil Abloh designed 47 bespoke pairs of the Nike “Air Force 1” for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 show in collaboration with Nike.

The design references Nineties skate shoes and features a technical lining with a Monogram print and extreme padding for optimum comfort. The Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium ‘H-Town’ pays homage to Houston, the sprawling Texas city that played a key role in the national hip-hop scene of the ‘90s and early aughts. Inspired by Houston slab cars, this pair sports a black velvet upper with tonal synthetic leather overlays, a shiny chrome Swoosh, and ‘H-Town’ lace dubrae. Dark pink velvet is utilized on the collar lining and tongue, while a splash of red appears to be spray-painted onto the Nike-debossed heel tab.
