This is an unusual 18ct gold mourning ring that was made circa 1820-1830. The design is a stylised pansy in black enamel set with an old mine cut diamond in the centre. On either side is a pansy with leaves in black enamel within trifurcated shoulders. The pansy is a pun on the French word for pansy and literally means Pense a moi Think of me. A beautiful ring to wear with care.
